French Beginners How will this course help me? You will develop the basic skills of French in a friendly and informal environment. Who is the course for? The course is designed for people who have little or no knowledge of the language. What can I expect to learn? The course will cover some of the following topics: (To be agreed with tutor at first session) Greetings / Personal information Food and drink Directions / Travel Shopping Accommodation Numbers. How will I learn? A variety of communicative activities will be used such as: role play, games and listening to audio files. There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practise at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. If you think that you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the centre staff. What will I need to provide? Bring pen and paper. The tutor will discuss the course outline and will carry out an initial informal assessment to ensure that this is the right course for you. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.)You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee. What can I do next? You may wish to progress to our Improver courses.
