Creative Textile Workshop How will this course help me? You will gain knowledge and skills to explore and create a range of textile projects in a friendly and informal environment Who is the course for? This course is for anyone with an interest in exploring creative stitch techniques, as a beginner to the subject or those with some experience. What can I expect to learn? A variety of techniques on fabrics, dissolvable fabrics, metal, paper, and other materials to create new surfaces for stitch. How to embellish fabrics and created surfaces with hand and/or machine embroidery using the application of threads, fibres, beads, etc. Health and Safety in this area of study How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Bring a notebook and pen. Basic course materials are available at the centre for the first session if required. Your tutor will advise on any future purchases related to the course which may include a medium sized embroidery ring, plain cotton or calico fabric, sewing equipment and thread. Will there be any other costs? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. What can I do next? You may wish to progress onto a variety of Get Creative courses are available.
