Computers for Beginners – OCR Entry Level 3 In using ICT How will this course help me? It will help with personal development, giving a basic understanding of using Word, accessing the Internet and Email use. Who is the course for? The course is aimed at learners with little or no computer knowledge who want to get a ‘basic’ understanding of using a computer to type documents, search the internet and communicate with Email. How will I learn? Learning takes place in a tutor led structured session demonstrating and explaining the software used, followed by practical application. The tutor provides feedback and guidance each session. Hand-outs and manuals are issued to support optional home study. Evidence is collated to gain accreditation – OCR Entry Level 3 in Using ICT. How will I know how well I am doing? Personal learning plans showing short and long term goals will be created and these will be reviewed with your tutor throughout the course. You will receive feedback verbally each session, as well as written feedback on marked work. At the end of each session the tutor, as well as yourself, writes comments on your ILP about how the session went. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? All the skills developed in the session will benefit from being practised at home or work, but this is optional if you have the software. What will I need to provide? All you need to provide is a commitment to the course and a willingness to take on the challenge and see it through to completion. Confidence is not a requirement prior to starting the course, as the tutor will help you in gaining this during the course. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.) In addition to course fees there will be accreditation fees. No other costs are involved unless you want to bring along a pen and notepad should you wish to make any notes.
