Within this course there are two main units: This first unit is topics in Psychology this covers 1. Social Psychology, which looks at conformity and obedience; 2. Cognitive Psychology, including the study of the modes of memory; 3. Developmental Psychology, focusing on attachment and early social development and 4. Abnormal Psychology which begins to address what abnormal psychology is and how mental illness can be explained and treated. The second unit is Psychology in Context - this covers: 1. Approaches used within Psychology: biological, cognitive, behavioural and psychodynamic. 2. Biological Psychology: the role of the nervous system, hormones and neurotransmitters, 3. Research Methods in Psychology and the scientific process. 4) Issues and options: Relationships; Aggression; Eating Behaviour; Addiction; Forensic Psychology.
