Media Studies is a vibrant, exciting and diverse course that will develop students' knowledge and understanding of a variety of Media issues, skills and techniques across a range of Media: film, television, radio, music, newspapers, magazines, internet, video games and advertising. You will develop your critical awareness and enjoyment in media texts and become active readers. You will examine the development of media institutions, their practices and output and analyse the ways in which different media represent the world. You will examine critically the ways in which media texts have been produced, circulated, consumed and interpreted by audiences and with application to your own production work, critically appraise the historical development and current organisation of selected media institutions. You will develop investigative and research skills and apply them to the analysis of media and use this knowledge and understanding of different media texts to explore comparisons and connections between them.
