You will develop knowledge and understanding of the accounting information system, accounting procedures, techniques and concepts; the role and limitations of accounting in decision making. The course makes candidates aware of the effects of economic, legal and technological change in accounting, and of the social implications of accounting decisions. You will acquire a range of skills in decision making and problem solving. You will need to understand the main features of published accounts of limited companies. The course requires students to be aware of the different structures of final accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, manufacturing organisations and non-profit organisations. You will develop an understanding of how accounting can provide valuable information for measuring and monitoring business performance, and for planning and decision making.
