The FdSc Sport, Health and Fitness programme is a new two year course validated by the University of Plymouth, but taught entirely at Cornwall College Camborne. It is delivered through a variety of formal lectures, small group seminars and practical sessions. The course has been designed, in conjunction with industry experts, to equip successful graduates with a range of skills and knowledge to allow them to find employment in a range of jobs within the Sport and Leisure sector, as well as the rapidly growing Health and Fitness industry. Progression onto a third year degree programme, within the University of Plymouth is also an option for successful graduates after the programme. Assessment is through written assignments, presentations, practical and theoretical exams, and a research project in the second year. Students on the programme also get assessed working on real life projects, such as coaching sport in local primary and secondary schools, or developing sport and physical activity in the wider community. All lecturing staff on the programme are qualified to degree level, and many to Postgraduate level as well as being involved in research and professional development in the areas of sports science and injuries, coaching and sports psychology.
