Ideal if: you want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised advanced craft qualificaion in furniture making. You'll need: to have completed a level 2 apprenticeship or have the relevant experience. You'll also have excellent practical and hand skills, be able to produce technical drawings accurately and have good attention to detail and work independently. This course supports those working in an advanced trainee furniture making position. You'll learn: to produce two 'design and make' projects, working from a brief, designing and using a variety of complex processes, e.g., curved work, veneering, chair manufacturing and applying high specification fittings and finishings. You will compile a competence portfolio to evidence your daily tasks. Expect: to attend the workshop on campus one day per week, with the rest of your week spent in the workplace. You will gain a wide variety of advanced skills associated with the design and making of high quality hand-crafted furniture. You'll love: acquiring advanced skills whilst designing and producing beautiful pieces of furniture. You'll go onto: employment or university study.
