Access to HE Diploma programmes are specifically designed to provide opportunities for mature learners of 19 years of age and above to progress to University.Many adults have the potential and ability to study for a degree or professional qualification but thought that they had missed any opportunity to pursue their goals of higher education. The Access to HE Diploma is a qualification which prepares learners for study at University.People on Access to HE Diploma come from a broad age range, across varied backgrounds and different ethnic groups what they share is a desire and the potential to study for a degree or professional qualification successfully.Access to HE Diplomas are open to those who may have few formal prior qualifications.They are designed for people who wish to return to study after a number of years out of education, and are aimed at helping people to build both academic and personal confidence, and to give people the skills to use this confidence to transfer general life skills into the learning environment.All Access to HE programmes include a mandatory core element such as study skills academic writing skills or research skills, as well as the study of appropriate academic subject up to higher education level.The College has developed excellent links with Nottinghamshire County Council and local universities including Derby, Nottingham, Nottingham Trent, Lincoln and Sheffield Hallam and has worked extensively to develop a suitable pathway for those wanting to access courses that will lead to a professional career.
