Who is the course for? This course is designed to prepare students for a career in Art & Design. It specifically aims to meet the needs of those students who wish to pursue a career in the area of 3D design such as Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Ceramics, Sculpture Jewellery and Theatre Design and is taught by design subject specialists. You will develop specialist conceptual and analytical skills as well as exploring the history and context of this subject area. The course is challenging and ambitious and you will need to study hard in order to excel. Past students have gone on to study at Degree level at many prestigious universities. You will be taught how to communicate your concepts through drawing, painting, model making and computer aided design/manufacture. All lessons will take place in our modern highly equipped workshops and studios with state of the art equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters. You can experience working in a wide range of specialist materials such as metal, wood, plastic and ceramics. You can also learn specialist fabrication techniques such as 3D printing and jewellery making as well as more traditional sculpture techniques such as welding and ceramics. What can it lead to? At the end of the course you can progress with appropriate grades onto a Degree in a wide range of design disciplines such as Architecture, Product Design, Interior Design, Sculpture and Theatre Design. You can also choose to progress onto an Art Foundation course. What will I study? You will experience the development of an idea from initial concept to the finished final object. You will learn how to visualise your ideas in a wide range of media. You will learn how to draw and sketch your ideas as well as using computer aided design to help develop your concepts and you will learn a range of model making techniques to help manufacture impressive models and final pieces. Name: Art and Design 3D - Architecture, Interior and Product Design A Level Qualification title: GCE A2 Level Art and Design Qualification type: Assessment The A Level course is delivered over two years and will be assessed in Year 2. In Year One, you will be taught a range of skills to help you develop the ability to meet the requirements of the assessed components in Year 2. In Year 2, there are two assessed components: in component 1 you will develop work for a personal investigation into an idea, issue, concept or theme supported by written material. This will count for 60% of your total A-Level marks. In component 2, you will produce personal work in response to one of eight exciting starting points which will count for 40% of your total A-level.
