This course is for students who wish to work in the construction industry and progress onto level 3 or an apprenticeship. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who would like a career in the construction industry or those who are progressing from Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery. You will study the following: * Erect Dismantle Basic Working Platforms * Using Portable Power Tools * Fixing Skirtings, Architraves and Hinged Doors * 1st Fixing Before Plastering * 2nd Fixing After Plastering * Structural Carcassing * Using Circular Saws All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional English and Maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of Maths & English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment.
