Art AS Level

UPDATED 20160324 11:28:44

The aims of the course are to enable you to develop skills and techniques acquired at GCSE level. We encourage independent and personal research and help develop your own ideas based around different themes. We teach as a team and offer a range of skills and opinions. During your A Level course you will find out about a whole range of different media, techniques and processes. From charcoal to computers, you just cannot have enough ideas when it comes to expressing yourself. The course is big on hands-on experience too. It is the work you produce that counts. You will be expected to complete one coursework project based on a range of different themes. You will be provided with different and wide ranging stimulus where you will be individually directed towards personal experimentation with media, techniques and relevant critical sources. We encourage you to explore different artists that cover a range of genres. Become interested and excited by what drives artists to create the work they do. Students are expected to use approximately four extra study periods a week in order to work in the department and complete work to the required standard. Students must be prepared for a time consuming subject and put in this extra time, it is a lot of work but well worth it.
