Product Design 3D AS Level

UPDATED 20160203 14:40:58

The Product Design course is designed for students who have enjoyed and achieved well at GCSE Resistant Materials and/or Graphics. Both GCSE courses allow entry onto the course although there is a stronger emphasis on Resistant Materials within this course, in particular with the exam element. Product Design provides exciting opportunities to develop capabilities through combining designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding, creating quality outcomes and becoming informed users of products. This course contributes to the development of young people by preparing them to participate in, think about and intervene creatively to improve the quality of tomorrow's rapidly changing technologies. During each year of study the course is delivered across two units. One unit is based around the knowledge and understanding of Product Design and the other unit is a coursework project and design folder which will be based on a product of choice. This course is perfect for any student who wishes to pursue a career in such areas as Product design, Industrial design, Interior design, Architecture and furniture making.
