If you do, too, thisdynamic, exciting, stimulating A LevelMedia Studies course might be the place for you. This course will deepen your understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of different media, such as films, TV, the internet, video games, newspapers, advertising, social networking and critically analyse how they are constructed and the meaning and messages they create. Media Studies provides an exciting range of modules that ask critical questions about the media industry and offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of essential, transferable abilities.You will learn to undertake detailed research, plan, produce and present work, building skills in digital technologies while developing and demonstrating their creativity. Looking at a variety of media forms from film to print to the internet,you will engage in discussions, debates, case studies, personal research and practical projects building on skills that can be applied to a vast array of professions, including film/TV director, editor, camera operator, researcher, journalist, teacher, historian, animator and many more. In the first Module, you will discuss, analyse and write about media texts and issues. The second Module is `Applied` which means that the course isof a more practical nature - you will prepare for and make a video and evaluate it in writing using a report format. This is your coursework and counts for 50% of the AS course. Like history, the media interpret the past to us and show us what has gone into making us the way we are.
