This Award qualifies you to be an assessor for NVQ and other competence based courses. You will receive a half day induction in College and then use online learning to achieve the qualification. You will be visited in your workplace in order to observe your practice. The qualification can be done at your own pace but we would aim for you to complete it within six months. The course comprises three Units: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment. A knowledge-only Award for those who need to know about assessment but who are not currently practicing (eg aspiring assessors or quality managers). Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment. For practitioners who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (eg witnesses), learner statements and RPL. Assessing Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding. For practitioners who assess achievement in vocationally-related situations, eg classrooms or workshops, and who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This course has bi- monthly start dates.
