Tailoring - intensive - all abilities

UPDATED 20150626 15:21:22

On this extended, 4 hour session course you will learn how to make tailored garments using traditional and modern techniques, including how and where to use canvas & fusible interfacings. Emphasis will be placed on choosing suitable styles and fabrics, pattern cutting and fitting, as well as ideas for creating professional finishes for garments. You will create a reference folder of sample techniques, which will include hand stitches, buttonholes, pockets, zips & decorative finishes. All learners will work on their own individual projects with guidance from the tutor, and depending upon your level of experience it should be achievable within the 10 week class to complete a skirt, trousers, waistcoat or shirt and potentially begin a second item. Learners wishing to make a more complex item such as a jacket or coat may require additional time, and this will be dependent on your experience level and whether you are able to progress your work at home.
