Tailoring - beginners sample class

This course is specifically designed to build a portfolio of technical samples, that will introduce you to a range of skills and finishes. It is an excellent introduction to Tailoring for those learners wishing to move to a beginners/improvers level course and/or apply for an accredited course in Further Education. Techniques covered will include a wide variety of handstitches, seams, zips , sleeves & pockets.

Entry requirements

An A4 sized folder for storing samples and handouts, plus a notebook are essential. The Tutor will discuss materials and projects during the first session of the course, but you will need to purchase 2 metres of inexpensive plain coloured medium weight wool and several different zip fasteners. You will also need a sewing kit comprising a good pair of scissors, tailors chalk, dressmakers pins, basting thread, polyester sewing thread, hand sewing needles, a seam ripper and a tape measure.
