Physics studies the way the universe works. It looks at practical issues such as the effects of forces, how electrical and magnetic fields can be used and concepts such as waves. It also looks at the “big” questions such as how the universe began ...... and how it will end. AS Level: Students study the wonderful abstract world of particles, learn what Quantum Theory is about, develop an understanding of electrical circuits, study mechanics (which is the theory behind all movement and forms of transport), investigate the properties of materials and develop an understanding of waves. A Level: The two year A-level course includes all the topics mentioned above and also covers force fields, momentum, oscillatory motion and circular motion, nuclear physics, heat and astrophysics.
