AS Level: The course engages students in a study of a broad range of Literary texts from different time periods and genre. Exploration of all texts will engage students in the exploration of how the theme of love is presented in Literature from across the ages. All students study one Shakespeare text, a range of poetry and two prose texts, knowledge and analysis of which are assessed across two terminal examinations. A Level: Students complete 3 units. Unit 1 engages student in the exploration and analysis of a Shakespeare and a selection of love poetry, exploring how the theme of love through the ages is presented in these texts. Unit 2 demands study of a variety of texts written during and about the First World War, again assessed by a terminal examination at the end of the course. Unit 3 is assessed via coursework and engages students in a personal critical study where they must compare two texts, negotiating their choice of texts and essay title with their Literature teacher.
