AS/A2 Physical Education (PE)

If you have a genuine interest in Sport, studying Physical Education at AS and A2 Level will take you through everything from the active elements of sport and how the body works. You will learn about Anatomy & Physiology including: the skeletal, muscular, cardio-vascular and respiratory systems, and basic biomechanics. You will study these topics in relation to performance, learning how these systems can all be improved/trained. You will also gain an understanding of what diseases or illnesses can be suffered by systems and the lifestyle factors that contribute to or help to reduce and avoid them. You will also learn about how are we able to learn new skills and look into a number of socio-cultural studies around the concepts of play, leisure, physical recreation and physical education as well as Sports organisation and funding.
