Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF)

This course is designed for those new to supporting learning within a school or who have less than a year's experience. The course will enable you to develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively support pupils with their learning by addressing key issues within education, including safeguarding, assessment for learning and understanding schools as organisations. During the course you will study 10 mandatory units, as well as 1 or 2 optional units which are relevant to your role. Mandatory Units including: Communication, Safeguarding, Child Development, Schools as Organisations, Positive Behaviour, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Team Practice, Maintain and Support Relationships, Supporting Learning Activities. You will be working in either a voluntary or paid placements for 8-10 hours per week. This can be in a primary, secondary, special or independent school, working with children aged 4-18 years old. Alongside your placement monthly workshop will run covering the requirements for each assignment. As a Boston College Student you will have access to the new library at Boston's Rochford Campus where can you access a range of books to support your course or use the computers or printers. You will also have access to materials on our virtual learning environment, Moodle. You may also access the coffee shop, bistro and canteen at the Rochford Campus or the coffee shop at Boston College Spalding.
