This course is designed for those who wish to train to become a Fire Alarm or Intruder Alarm Engineer by undertaking an industry recognised Apprenticeship certificated by City & Guilds. As an Apprentice you would learn how to install and test security systems, repair faults and explain to customers how to use them. You will be working for an employer who will train you in the workplace by experienced technicians who can teach you the practical skills you will need to install and maintain CCTV cameras, intruder and fire alarms and Access control systems. As an apprentice security systems engineer you will also attend Mercury Training one day a week to study for the technical knowledge certificate that is an essential component of the apprenticeship. This course is designed for flexibility, incorporating work-based learning and assessment. Depending on experience, most participants complete in 16 months. As well as studying Employment Rights and Responsibilities, an NVQ Level 2 in Security & Electronic Systems, and Functional Skills, you will also work towards the Level 2 Certificate in Security & Electronic Systems. The apprenticeship will be completed in 16 months, or three years if you progress into an advanced Level 3 apprenticeship. Units Covered •Electrical and electronic principles •Working effectively and safely in the electro technical environment You will also choose one of the following specialisms: Intruder Alarms - Design, installation, testing, commissioning and Maintenance of intruder and hold-up alarm systems. Fire Detection And Alarms - Design, installation, testing, commissioning and Maintenance of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.
