Who is the course for: Students who wish to follow a broad based art & design course that leads them into a specialism in year two and then to university entry. Course Content: The first year of the course is of an exploratory nature, giving students the opportunity to develop their skills and understanding of a variety of art & design disciplines. The diagnostic component in the first year of the course will inform and guide students in their second year where they will focus on the pathway option they wish to follow. As well as studio-based lectures, students are expected to visit galleries and museums locally and in central London. There will also be a variety of College organised educational visits to galleries and museums around the country. All students will study Functional Skills in English as part of this course. Study Methods: Progress is assessed continuously and competence must be proved in all areas of study before the full award is granted. How is the course assessed: Where next - Further Studies: You can go onto higher level study on the BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Uxbridge College which will give you additonal preparation for a degree or go onto a degree course.
