BTEC Extended Subsidiary Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion and Clothing) (9 Unit)

This course is the first year of an 18 unit (180 credits) studied over two years just like an A level programme. Year one (Subsidiary) consists of a 90 credit programme. After year one, most students will enrol onto the second year and complete a full BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma ensuring progression to university level courses, higher apprenticeships or employment. This unique and innovative one-year programme of study takes an employability - focused approach through Fashion Styling, Promotion and Retail. You will develop a fashion portfolio and your own online presence while building your core skills in areas such as: Fashion Promotion, Styling, Fashion Studio Photography, Retail, Visual Merchandising, Contextual Fashion and Trends. You will also learn how to present and visualise your ideas using Photoshop to give you up to date knowledge and understanding within the work place. The first half of the course will provide you with basic skills and students will study a variety of approaches to the fashion industry. In the second half of the course the learner will concentrate on building an online presence, fashion portfolio and producing an independent showcase piece. On successful completion of this course you will have essential key skills in self-management, communication, promotion and customer awareness. You will also have the chance to meet and work with visiting professional specialists, with visits to museums and exhibitions. You will also have the rewarding opportunity to exhibit your final major project in an end of year show and at the Winns Gallery. What will I Study: Fashion in retail. Fashion styling.
