You'll study one novel and a selection of poetry. As well as studying these literary works, there is an Anthology of spoken, written and electronic non-literary texts. What is unique about this subject? It is an integrated course, combining both literary and linguistic approaches. The AS level and A-Level are very different courses, and must be studied separately (the AS level cannot lead onto the full A-Level). What skills will I develop? At AS level (ONE YEAR ONLY), you'll develop not only skills in literary, but also in linguistic analysis. You'll hone your skills in close analysis and in academic writing. In addition you'll learn how to write effectively in transforming texts from one genre to another. You'll also develop your discursive and presentation skills, as you'll take a leading role in lessons.
