The course aims to give you the basic skills, knowledge and ability to lipread.You will work toward the following: Listen for the gist of short explanations, Follow single step instructions in a familiar context, Ability to recognise basic lip shapes, Ability to recognise less visual consonants and vowel shapes, Awareness of mistakes and why they are made, Awareness of rhythm in speech, Memory, concentration and anticipation development, Ability to be assertive, Knowledge of environmental aids and loop systems Teaching and Learning activities: group and individual instruction, role-play, demonstration, discussion and pair / group work
