An introductory course over ten Saturdays designed for those keen to learn the basics of Adobe's industry-standard design-for-print software Photoshop & InDesign CS6/CC. This course is aimed at those whose intention is to learn or brush up on existing technical skills rather than to achieve a qualification.Your course will explore the compatibility of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator in a series of practical projects designed to build your knowledge of and confidence in these industry-standard programs. Topics covered include: Photoshop - navigate the Photoshop interface - the Photoshop toolbox - image scanning - image modes and file formats - image resolution - selection tools - image adjustments and repair (hue, saturation, contrast etc) - basic retouching - using layers - exploration of a variety of tools and techniques to transform your images creatively (filters, painting tools, layer styles etc) - creating text - individual project InDesign - navigate the InDesign interface - the inDesign toolbox - set up a document: size, orientation, single pages and spreads - measuring, rulers - format pages: margins, guides and grids, columns - insert/import text and images - cut, copy and paste text and graphics - reposition and resize text and images - format text: font styles, sizes and weights; text justification and kerning; wrap-around text; reversed-out text, text set along a path; indents, bullet points and drop caps - create rules and borders - colour page elements - save and print document - individual project Illustrator - navigate the Illustrator interface - the Illustrator toolbox - vector v raster - creating shapes - reshaping tools - free transform - scissors and slice - rotate and warp - gradients - selections - the pen and pencil tools - live trace and live paint
