An introduction to a range of great works of music, through listening and discussion.This 8-week course is a chance to look in detail at some of the great works in the classical canon; somssome will be well-known while others may be new to you. Each week is a stand-alone session, tthouthough terminology and musical ideas (such as structural forms, characteristics of musical perioperiods etc) will be transferable between weeks. The works and their composers will be placed in their their musical, historical and social context, and discussed before and after listening.
