This course is designed to give you an overview of computer hardware and software systems. It will also cover a wide introduction to topics such as office and internet applications, operating systems, physical components of a PC and major networking technologies. The course will contain a large amount of practical work with hands on time using the computers. The Course covers the following modules, Office Software Applications including Word, Excel & Powerpoint), Internet and Email, including searching, different browsers and email addresses, Operating systems overview, comparison of different versions of Windows, Installation of Windows7 software, Input and output devices explained, What's inside a computer?, Data storage explained, including megabytes and gigabyte and backups. Storing data in windows, files, folders and file types explained. Computer viruses and how to keep your PC virus free. Computer networking, both LANs and Wireless. The methods of teaching are, Classroom based with work related material, Group work and Pair work, One to One support and careers advice, Project work Class assignments
