Knowledge of Policing Level 3 Certificate

Richmond Adult Community College has been approved by the College of Policing to provide this City and Guilds qualification. It has been especially designed for anyone who would like to join the Police Service as a Police Constable in England and Wales. Successful achievement of the Certificate in Knowledge of Policing does not in itself provide any guarantee of recruitment as a trainee Police Constable. However unless you are a Special Police Constable, without it, you will not be able to make application to the Metropolitan Police without this approved course qualification. All tutors of this course are serving Metropolitan Police Officers who are also qualified teachers. Achieving this Certificate will provide you with much of the knowledge and understanding that underpins part of the Diploma in Policing qualification and is an important element of the Professional Entry into Policing Pre-Join Strategy. The qualification is also relevant to other related roles within the Criminal Justice Sector. Subjects covered: Initial support to victims, Gathering and submitting information, Initial response to incidents, Arresting, detaining and reporting individuals, Conducting, priority and volume investigations, Interviewing victims and witnesses, Interviewing suspects, Searching individuals, vehicles, premises or open spaces, Managing conflict Because we are an approved centre for the provision of this course, the course is augmented by additional material from the College of Policing's own curriculum. Name: Knowledge of Policing Level 3 Certificate Qualification title: Certificate in Knowledge of Policing (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment You will undergo informal continuous assessment by your tutors in the form of observation, question and answers, quizzes and tests. City and Guilds require you to sit five test papers in a controlled environment. These will take place during the sessions of the course. They consist of four short answer papers and one multiple choice paper. The academic standard required by the Police is very high. Therefore only one re-sit per exam is provided should you fail an exam. The maximum number of failed exams allowed is two and re-sits will have to be conducted outside of the time allocated for the main course.
