The UAL Foundation Diploma in Art and Design aims to prepare you to make the right choices concerning your future career in the Arts. This primarily, but not exclusively, involves you creating a portfolio of work that gives you the best possible chance of gaining a place at university. It is a challenging and intensive course that will build upon and expand your prior creative skills and knowledge of art & design practice, the creative industries and their historical context. By the end of the course we aim to have developed your capacity to analyse, reflect on and review your progress within the context of art and design. The course is highly experimental and exploratory giving you the opportunity to discover a range of different disciplines and practices before you specialize in one field. This course will develop your ability to challenge your preconceptions. It will increase your personal independence in developing ideas and extend your skills in using materials, techniques and processes. Name: Art & Design UAL Level 3 Foundation Diploma Qualification title: Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Assessment is through formal review by course tutors according to the UAL standards. Your work will be continuously assessed via portfolio/sketch books and project work. You will be given written feedback throughout the course. Informal assessments also take place through critiques and tutor guidance. You are required to pass all the previous stages before being submitted for the final unit. To achieve the whole qualification, you must achieve a pass for all 120 credits that you will submit, via a unitized system. Units 1-4 and 5 & 6 are achieved at pass only. Unit 7 is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction. The grade for Unit 7 constitutes the final qualification grade. It is possible for you to achieve Level 4 in Units 5-7.
