The Certificate is a two year part-time course for those who wish to gain a full professional teaching qualification for the Lifelong Learning Sector. It is aimed at those teaching adults in colleges and in the public sectors. The course is designed to develop and extend your repertoire of teaching skills. It will increase your understanding of the whole teaching/learning process and you will acquire competence in curriculum design and the assessment of learning. You will also enlarge your professional knowledge of the policy, organisation and management of post compulsory education. You will have the opportunity to gain a recognised Certificate in Further and Higher Education and move on to the status of Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills QTLS. Subjects covered Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector Planning for inclusive teaching and learning Assessing Learning Theories and principles or learning Teaching a specialist subject Continuing personal and professional development Curriculum development and flexible learning Social Context of Education Action Research The style of teaching and learning used in this programme has been carefully designed to suit the subject matter. We recognise that students learn in various ways, so we use a range of different teaching methods and situations to best deliver the learning outcomes for each module.
