This is an initial training course for those who want to undertake EFL ESOL training and have little or no experience of teaching English. It is also suitable for teachers of other subjects who would like to take up EFL ESOL teaching or add it to their range of expertise. It is recognised as an acceptable qualification for teaching in language schools in this country and abroad. The lectures and workshops will cover the following topics. language awareness, the nature of language, language acquisition, varieties of English, linguistic analysis, language teaching methodology, lesson planning, assessing students learning needs, evaluating and modifying teaching practice. Candidates must be available for lesson observations and teaching practice which take place in addition to the Tuesday taught sessions.
