This subject will allow the student to develop an advanced level understanding of chemical knowledge and practical applications. The course is delivered in two units. The first unit covers inorganic and organic chemistry. These topics include atomic structure bonding periodicity and alkane chemistry. The second unit focuses on physical and additional organic chemistry. It covers equilibria kinetics reaction mechanisms and analytical techniques. In addition to these two units which are assessed through exam papers there is also a graded assessment of practical skills which is undertaken through the year.
