The Extended Diploma is designed to give you with the skills, knowledge and understanding of a wide range of occupational roles undertaken in the Public Services (uniformed) e.g. Police, Military, Fire Service, Health Service and HM Customs. The course consists of a combination of classroom based taught lessons, visiting speakers from Public Services and practical and physical activities, for example Leadership and Teamwork tasks in Thorpe Woodlands and Tunstall Forest and local Parks. There is also an opportunity to undertake land navigation and outdoor activities units. The qualification prepares you for employment in the Public Services, develops team skills, leadership skills and a wide range of employability skills relevant for a broad range of sectors in the world of work. The vocational context of the qualification allows for assessment, written and practical assignments, to be directly linked to realistic work-based scenarios and to form links with local Public Service providers. You will also complete 60 hours of work experience in a variety of settings.
