Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism With Events

The BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism with events is a qualification which is equivalent to four GCSE grades (A* -C). It provides learners with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of the tourism and events industry. This industry is one of the most important contributors to the UK economy and an exciting industry to work in. Learners are provided with the theoretical concepts used in the industry and the practical knowledge needed to gain a wide ranging experience of the industry. The course is designed for learners who wish to either enter employment in the tourism and events industry progress on a Level 3 course in travel and tourism with events. You will attend College full-time for one year. Your timetable will include independent study time to enable you to consolidate the work carried out in lectures. All Level 2 Diplomas are work-related qualifications designed to offer you a choice of routes into Level 3 programmes and employment. In the course you study 3 Core Units and 8 Specialist Units. The three core units give learners an Introduction to the travel and tourism sector, an understanding of customer service and an understanding of the nature and effects of world travel - all fundamental to the success of travel and tourism organisations. The specialist units are varied and will equip learners with a broad and diverse experience. You will continue to improve your English and/or maths skills in structured lessons alongside your course, and if you plan to progress to a Level 3 course you will need to demonstrate a satisfactory level of improvement in English and/or maths by the end of the year.
