About the Study Programme This course will include the following qualifications: • Level 3 90 credit Diploma in sport •Functional Skills Maths and English if required Your study programme based at our world class Academy for Sport will give you the opportunity to continue your academic development, not only in your course programme, we will also enhance your employability skills and advance your functional skills. Choose from one of our Sport Academies or the Leadership Academy As a full-time student, while studying this course you'll have the opportunity to join one of our 14 sport academies, where you will receive the following for your chosen sport: •Up to nine hours of professional training every week. •The opportunity to compete in local, national and international competitions. •A personalised training and development programme and nutritional advice. •Our professional Academy coaches together with our strength and conditioning and physiotherapy teams will support you all the way. •Access to Olympic standard gym If you prefer not to be part of the Sports Academies you will join our new and exciting Leadership Academy where you will complete various volunteering experiences as part of your study programme. Teaching, learning and assessment You will bee assessed by your tutor through various methods including assignment work, practical sessions and course work. A real plus will be that you do not need to sit any exams. The majority of your learning will take place at the Gateshead Academy for Sport but there could be some work taken place outside in various leisure facilities. Employment and Education Successful completion of these awards will give you the necessary skills to seek work within the leisure industry as a leisure attendant or a sports leader or to progress onto a level 3 course or on to university.
