This qualification has been designed in consultation with the Health and Fitness industry and representatives from Higher Education. It is designed for people who wish to work in a sports-related occupation, and who want to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The course also allows students to enhance areas such as time management, IT, communication and presentation skills. The 90-credit Diploma, followed by the Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A levels and covers 18 units of work over two years. Year 2 units to be covered: • Psychology for Sports Performance • Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport • The Athletes Lifestyle • Current Issues in Sport • Sports Injuries • Analysis of Sports Performance • Rules, Regulations and Officiating • Sport and Exercise Massage • Talent Identification and Development in Sport Progression Opportunities Students may go on to study a degree in Sport or Sports Science or into sport-related employment, and further training. This course is a well-recognised and respected qualification for entry to many occupations including the various forces.
