Religious Studies provides the opportunity to consider life's most important questions. What is the point of human life? How should we live? What happens after death? What is the influence of religion upon society? You will be able to study what different thinkers have said on these questions, as well as considering how religious themes are portrayed in the media. You will be able to engage in lively discussion and form your own judgements. The course also helps you to think critically- a crucial life skill also important in employment. Religious Studies is open both to those with any kind of religious belief and to those with none. You can go on to do degree courses in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or Oriental Studies which make direct use of the subject content. However, Religious Studies AS and A level are also a good background for a vast range of other degree courses and jobs. The thinking skills it encourages are easily transferable to other subjects. A2 Religious Studies is assessed by two modular exams at the end of Year 2. AS must first have been successfully completed.
