This qualification has been designed in consultation with the Health and Fitness industry and representatives from Higher Education. It is designed for people who wish to work in a sports-related occupation, and who want to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The course also allows students to enhance areas such as time management, IT, communication and presentation skills. The Subsidiary Diploma can be studied in the second year to gain the equivalent of one A level. The Certificate will have been successfully completed in the first year. Students may go on to study a degree in Sport or Sports Science or into sport-related employment, and further training. This course is a well-recognised and respected qualification for entry to many occupations including the various forces. Units that will be covered are: • Practical team sports • Anatomy for sport and exercise • Instructing physical activity and exercise • Sport and exercise research project • Sport and exercise psychology • Analysis of sports performance • Sport and Exercise Massage • Applied sport and exercise physiology • Sports coaching
