Spanish, the first language of 22 nations and 300 million people, is developing rapidly as a language of increasing importance here in Britain, not only because of the many links through tourism but also because of the development of Spain as an important European Union trading nation and improved relations with Spanish-speaking countries in South America. Students have the opportunity to participate in an exchange with Santiago in Spain in order to improve their fluency and listening skills. The A level comprises four units in total (two will have been taken in the AS year) and will cover reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. A2 level includes options in cultural studies, film and literature.
