This subject is an essential qualification for entry to employment, further and higher education, including the Access to HE course. The course covers both oral and written language, writing and reading skills. Some study of literature, including Shakespeare, is included but the emphasis is on clear, competent and fluid writing. The tuition time allowed for this course is 2.5 hours per week and therefore very intensive, needing a high level of commitment from the student to succeed.
