Students of all levels will be able to study either: 1. design, draft and produce patterns. OR 2. improve on the construction of contemporary or classic clothes. Students in category 1 will produce a personal 'toile' for a skirt, trouser, bodice and sleeve. As you progress you will manipulate darts and draping, create collars and cuffs, style skirts and shirts, plan pockets and pleating. You can then design and draft the most simple 'A' line mini skirt or trouser through to prom dress or theatrical costume. Students in category 2 will use a commercial pattern to plan, mark, cut and construct your chosen garment. You will cover many processes including seam finishes - couture stitching - bias cut and rouleaux - hem finishes and zips, all related to your garment, Re-cuts, adaptations and recycling can be included which are inexpensive and can be fun.
