An Apprenticeship in Hairdressing & Barbering provides basic knowledge of hairdressing whilst building understanding of the sector. You will gain valuable hands on experience in a salon, preparing you for work as a salon junior or junior stylist. •Level 2 Award in Hairdressing & Barbering (NVQ) •Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths & English (if required) Learners will gain knowledge, understanding and experience of working in a salon.
Name: Hairdressing & Barbering Apprenticeship (Level 2) VTCT Qualification title: NVQ Level 2 Qualification type: Apprenticeship Assessment You will spend 4 days per week in a salon to gain experience in: Advise and consult with clients Setting and dressing hair Styling and finishing hair Cutting hair using basic techniques Colouring and highlighting hair Washing hair and applying treatments to hair and scalp You will spend the majority of your learning journey in a salon, where you will have plenty of opportunity to develop your practical skills. One day per week you will attend classroom-based sessions where you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. You will also develop communication skills to help you meet customer needs in the work environment. In addition to the skills above, you may also get the opportunity to learn additional skills such as attaching and removing hair extensions, relaxing hair and plaiting and twisting hair. In parallel, you will develop your communication skills and build on your customer service skills , gaining awareness of your environmental sustainability and develop commercial skills , all of which are a key attribute which are highly valued by employers. You will also develop your research and problem solving skills. In addition to completing your mandatory units, you will be required to achieve nine credits from the optional units which include- removing hair extensions, perming and relaxing hair, plating and styling hair .
