Who is the programme for? This is a work-based qualification, equipping trainees with the skills required to progress within the hairdressing industry. Trainees work in the industry and attend College for skills sessions and underpinning knowledge one day each week. Trainees should be aged 16+. Students have to be committed and be prepared to attend college to a minimum of 90%. What is the programme structure? The programme is modular, the full FMA Framework consists of: . NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing. . Functional skills for English and Maths. . Employment rights and responsibilities (ERR) What does the programme include? NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing includes the following units: . Advise and consult with clients. . Shampoo and condition hair and scalp. . Retail products . Health, safety and security. . Blow drying hair, setting and dressing hair. . Women and men's cutting techniques. . Colouring techniques. . Functional skills in English and Maths. . Employers' rights and responsibilities (ERR) . Opportunities to visit hairdressing exhibitions, shows, competitions etc. Requirements: High standards of Professional appearance Are there any special features facilities for the programme? The Hairdressing Apprentices use modern, fully equipped training workshops and salons. The 'Enhance' salon at the college is open to the public, providing a range of professional services, in addition, the college has a wide range of facilities available to trainees, such as the Learning Resource Centre with access to computers. Trainees can also access lots of support such as careers guidance, counselling and financial help. Will there be any extra costs involved? Trainees will be provided with all the equipment necessary to complete the programme.
