This qualification will provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in the school environment in roles such as teaching assistant, learning support assistant and special needs assistant. The course is made up of mandatory and optional units and to gain the Award learners must achieve 12 credits from the mandatory units and for the Certificate, 32 credits from the mandatory units. Credits achieved on the Award can be counted towards the Certificate.
