Art and Design, Level 3 Extended Diploma

UPDATED 20150529 14:23:14

As well as extending your skills in drawing, you will learn to use a wide range of equipment and many new materials and processes. You will work on a number of experimental and industry related project briefs that introduce you to the Apple Macs, print making studio, 3D studio, photography, fashion and textiles. The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design is made up of 12 mandatory and two optional units. Mandatory units include an introduction to visual language in art and design, research skills in art and design, an introduction to materials, processes and technical skills and preparing for progression within art and design. During the last part of your second year you will be working on a final major project. The work produced from these units will then go into a professionally produced end-of-year exhibition. Throughout the course you will receive specialist advice and tutor support on portfolio presentation and preparation for University and job interviews. Assessment is based purely on coursework and there no exams at all within the programme. Over the two year course you will study 13 units and work may be re-submitted once in order to improve your grades as the course progresses. The Art and Design department have been invited to join the prestigious UAL (University of the Arts London) examining board. This means that all of our Art and Design qualifications will be awarded certified by UAL. Advantages to this include a guaranteed interview in to any of the London UAL University Colleges after completion of the Level 3 qualification and the opportunity to exhibit Final Major Project work at Chelsea College of Art at the end of the academic year.
