This course is not for complete beginners, but is for those have already completed the beginners plus course at The Gateway. Those who have O level or GCSE Latin could join the Reading Latin Literature group at 9:30am on Tuesdays. By the end of the course you can expect to be able to do the following: •read passages of Latin with greater confidence •use a running vocabulary or dictionary to help you work independently •recognise the different forms of nouns, adjectives and verbs •increase your knowledge of Latin vocabulary •discuss Roman society and culture with the tutor and other learners Your tutor Margaret Thorpe read classics at Cambridge, and has taught Latin, Greek and classical civilisation at The Gateway for many years.
