The BTEC First Diploma in Children's Care, Learning ; Development is a one year Full-time Level 2 course aimed at students 16 years old and over, and on successful completion you will be awarded a Level 2 qualification. You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills and an understanding of working with children and young people aged between 0 - 16 years - knowledge of this age range will be gained through participation in a variety of subjects and work placements. The qualifications are currently being reviewed by CWDC and although the content is expected to remain very similar, prospective students will be updated as soon as details are available. The course comprises of six units of study: Communication with children ; adults Keeping children safe Preparing ; maintaining environments for childcare Professional development roles ; responsibilities in childcare Supporting children's play ; learning Understanding children's development. The main subjects are enhanced by further studies including Functional Skills (English, maths and Information Communication Technology), First Aid and Hygiene.
