These courses are work - related programmes leading to nationally recognised qualifications equivalent to A-Levels (two for the Diploma, three for the Extended Diploma). You will learn by completing projects/assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Subjects covered include: Child health Communication ; interpersonal skills Equality, diversity ; rights in early years work Learning in the early years Promoting children's development Professional practice Researching early years'care ; education Safeguarding children Special educational needs. Additional studies may include: British Red Cross Certificate in First Aid Food Hygiene This programme requires a minimum of 800 hours on work placement to achieve the full qualification. This will be in a variety of placements to allow real experience of a working environment. You may be required to continue to study Maths or IT as part of your course.
